A warm welcome to Year 2! We hope you’ve had an enjoyable, restful and happy summer break. We’re very excited to be welcoming the children into their new Year 2 classes. 

In our first week, we were thinking about bubbles! We described them, wrote poems about them and imagined we had a magic bubble that could take us anywhere we wished! Well that year went fast and what a fabulous year it was! I will miss all of the lovely children and all of you! A huge thank you for all your gifts, cards, messages and smiles. Mrs Wright and Mrs Heal are also very grateful. Have a wonderful summer everybody!

On Tuesday next week we have an exciting workshop happening. I am still waiting for a few permission slips for photos and videos to come back. Please return next week. I will send out new letters today for those of you who may have lost the letter.

What an inspiring trip we had this morning. The Thomas Hardye School certainly got us thinking scientifically. There were lots of explosions, slime making, oohs and ahhs. A huge thank you to all the helpers who walked with us this morning. Well done Meadow 1 you were fantastic!

As you know we love butterflies at Damers! The Big Butterfly Count starts on Friday and runs for a couple of weeks. It would be a lovely thing to do over the summer break. Find out more here and download a butterfly ID sheet if you’re unsure what they are called.

It was lovely to see so many of you last week!

On Thursday we will be walking over to the Thomas Hardye School for an amazing science session. I have been in the past and it is really inspiring. We do need volunteers to come with us – please let me know on the gate or via the year 1 email year1@damers.dorset.sch.uk

We will be leaving school at 10.15 and returning before 12.30.
