We’ve been writing on the tables this week! This was part of our work on subtraction to show how we can use our knowledge of number bonds to work out the answer! We have also explored other methods such as crossing out and counting back on a number line!

Teach Your Monster to Read is a BAFTA-nominated game that helps children learn to read.  The game covers everything from letters and sounds to reading full sentences.  It matches the phonics teaching we do in Foundation and Year 1 The computer version is free to play and we have just been informed that it is FREE on all app stores until Wednesday 10th November! It is a really fantastic app and I know the children will LOVE it!!

Once you’ve downloaded the app there is nothing to pay to keep playing it even after the free period.  No in app purchases, no subscriptions and definitely no ads!  

This week the children have heard the story of Leaf Man a super seasonal story by Lois Ehlert. They have made their own leaf men and tomorrow will be writing about the journey they go on as they get blown by the wind.

We are thrilled to be able to open our classroom doors to you on Tuesday after school. You will be able to come in and see what your child has done so far in Year 1! It is very exciting for all of us and we hope you can make it!
